Who is eligible
- U.S. resident, 18 years or older
- Household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline, or enrollment in SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, SSDI, TANF, WIC, LIHEAP, a VA pension or housing assistance
- A need for fuel for essential trips: work, medical care, school, childcare, job search or caregiving
- No gas card from our foundation in the previous 6 months

How the card amount is decided

How applications are reviewed
- Submission: you apply online or by phone at 1-800-633-9745.
- Eligibility check: our enrollment team compares your answers with the rules above.
- Verification: we may ask for a photo ID and proof of income or benefits (for example a benefit letter or pay stub).
- Decision: most applications are decided within 5–10 business days.
- Delivery: approved applicants receive their gas card and the date they can reapply.
When requests exceed available cards, we prioritize urgent needs such as medical treatment, new employment and households with children.
Fraud prevention
To keep cards going to families who need them, we check for duplicate applications and may verify identity and benefits. Submitting false information leads to denial. We will never ask you for a fee, a bank login, a card number or a PIN.
If your application is denied
